Prof. Dr. Ergin Murat ALTUNER
I obtained my B.Sc. degree from Ankara University, Department of Biology, in 1996. In the same year, I commenced my M.Sc. studies at Middle East Technical University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Biochemistry. Subsequently, I successfully completed my Ph.D. studies at Ankara University, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Biology. During my Ph.D. studies, I gained valuable experience by working at The Open University, Milton Keynes, United Kingdom, for a duration of one year.
In 2009, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor at Kastamonu University, Faculty of Science and Arts, Department of Biology. I achieved the rank of Associate Professor in Biochemistry in 2013.
My research interests revolve around High Hydrostatic Pressure and the extraction of primary and secondary metabolites from plants, focusing on their anti-infective properties. I have numerous publications and have actively participated in various academic activities within my research domain.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of teaching a variety of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to my work in biology, I have amassed extensive experience through involvement in various national and international projects related to e-learning and distance education in biology, where I served as a senior instructional designer and manager.
HOBBIESOne of my hobbies is playing the electric guitar, and I am an enthusiastic fan of bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, and Metallica.
Apart from my guitar playing, I also practice KENDO. I take immense pride in being a member of the Ankara Kendo family (www.ankarakendo.com).
